“It was personalised training, with a personal feel. The staff were invested in my growth and that really helped me drive on to do what I knew I wanted to do.”

Jetstream 32 Pilot
Established in 1991, we have graduated hundreds of commercial pilots who are now enjoying careers in airlines, business jets, seaplanes, charter flight, agricultural flying and as flight test examiners.
Basair is focused on producing life-long learners, who improve with every flight to master their art. This has long been recognised in the industry, which is seen in our graduate’s employment rates; 94% of our Flight Instructor Rating graduates and 85% of our Multi Engine Instrument Rating graduates have got a job as a pilot.
Our success, and the success of our graduates, is due to our focus on education. Our approach goes beyond simply ‘training’ but education through tightly integrating theoretical knowledge with practical flight training, so students develop a deeper understanding. With small class sizes, dedicated instructors, and a supportive learning environment, we provide the personal attention needed to help each student build confidence and capability.
We also place strong emphasis on the non-technical skills essential to safe and professional flying, including situational awareness, decision-making, and workload management. Through the use of case studies and applied learning, students are taught to connect theory with real operational situations and develop the judgement required in the cockpit. Together with our strong CASA exam pass rates, this reflects a training philosophy focused on producing capable, professional, and career-ready pilots.
Basair combines integrated theory and flight training with small class sizes and a strong focus on judgement, situational awareness, and decision-making. The resulting excellent CASA flight test and exam pass rates, our approach helps aspiring pilots become skilled, confident, and professional.
Our commitment to education is reflected in the way we structure our classes. Small class sizes are one of the most important factors in supporting effective teaching, strong student engagement, and better learning outcomes. Because we offer course start dates every four weeks, we are able to keep classes small and give students more individual attention throughout their training.
Our commitment to education is reflected in how we design our courses. Small class sizes play an important role in effective teaching, student engagement, and learning outcomes. With course start dates every four weeks, we are able to maintain smaller classes and provide students with more personalised support throughout their training.
Our fleet is carefully tailored to ensure our students gain experience during training that will result in them being employed after training. We fly the Cessna and Piper aircraft that you will be flying in your first job – giving you the advantage in the job market, and every chance of succeeding once hired.
Our world-class curriculum is designed to blend theory and practice; consolidating and reinforcing learnings to produce expert pilots. Our Units of Study are 4 weeks long, providing regular checkpoints to ensure each student progresses quickly, without falling behind
As one of the few 142 approved training organisations in the country, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority allows Basair to train pilots to a commercial standard in only 150 hours of flight, as opposed to the 200 hours usually required.
