Today, on R U OK? Day, we’re reminded of the importance of looking out for one another and taking the time to ask a simple but powerful question:

"Are you okay?"

In the aviation industry, mental health is especially critical. Pilots and aviationprofessionals often face unique stressors— high-stakes environments, workload management —that can take a toll on mental well-being.

It’s important to acknowledge that these pressures are real, and it’s okay to reach out for support when things feel overwhelming.

Basair is a founding member of the CAPS program; (Community of Aviation Peer Support), initiated by the RAAA in collaboration with the Flight Safety Foundation. This much-needed peer support initiative provides aviation professionals with a valuable network to connect and share experiences, offering an essential space for mental health and well-being support within our industry.

A warm welcome to Christopher Lea who recently joi

A warm welcome to Christopher Lea who recently joined the Basair team as our newest Group Safety Manager.

With 30 years active military service followed by 10 years Reserve service all in Army Aviation, Chris joins the Basair Group with a plethora of safety experience in various safety critical industries.

Chris is also an ATPL(H) licensed pilot, flight instructor and senior aviation manager, with approximately 7000 hours of aeronautical experience, accrued in military and civil aviation.

With a flight training and aviation safety specific skillset, Chris has enjoyed his varied aviation career, working with global aerospace leaders Boeing and Airbus in Australia and the United States and in military service around the globe for the British and Australian Army Aviation.

Chris is enthusiastic about engaging with the next generation of pilots and, in his new role as Basair Group Safety Manager, is focused on delivering high-quality safety leadership and management to Basair Group staff and students while supporting organisational excellence.

Welcome to the team Chris! We are excited to see the safety positive change you will bring to the group! #AimHigh
