ME IFR Training
The Piper Seminole is Basair’s advanced multi-engine and instrument training platform. With twin-engine capability and a glass cockpit, it prepares students for the demands of IFR flying and more advanced commercial operations.
Glass Cockpit
When students reach the Seminole, they are no longer simply learning how to fly an aircraft from A to B. They are learning how to manage complexity.
That includes handling a twin-engine aircraft safely and accurately, understanding asymmetric flight, working with more advanced systems, planning and flying instrument departures and arrivals, and managing workload in a faster, more procedural cockpit environment.
The addition of a glass cockpit makes that training even more relevant. Students gain experience interpreting flight instruments and navigation data in a format similar to many modern commercial aircraft, while still learning the discipline and scan techniques needed for accurate IFR flying.
Glass cockpit training with real purpose
Modern avionics are valuable, but only when introduced at the right stage.
At Basair, students encounter the glass cockpit in the Piper Seminole as part of their transition into advanced multi-engine and instrument flying. This is the point in training where avionics integration, systems awareness, navigation management, and procedural precision become especially important.
That means the glass cockpit is not used as a substitute for foundational flying skills. It is used where it adds real value: helping students prepare for the systems and instrument environment they are likely to encounter later in their career.
