Simon graduated with a Certificate IV in Aviation and a Diploma of Aviation before doing the Instructor Rating course. He then worked for a short time as an instructor before getting a job flying twin-engine charter with Barrier Aviation in Horn Island. He then since moved on to become a First Officer with Air Link, before going to fly King Airs with Pearl Aviation Australia.
