Meet Harry Stanhope, Chief Pilot of Basair Aviation College
Harry’s journey in aviation started in 2011 when he excelled through his Commercial Pilot Licence & Flight Instructor Rating courses. He joined the team as a Flight Instructor in 2015 and quickly progressed through the ranks as a Grade 1 Instructor
In 2018, Harry was appointed as Base Manager of our Brisbane campus, and soon after in 2020 was promoted to Head of Training & Checking
After years of monumental work progressing students & instructors and shaping aviation education at Basair, Harry progressed even further and is now our Chief Pilot (Head of Flight Operations)

Yesterday, across our Sydney, Brisbane & Hunter Valley bases, Basair made the pledge to #GoPink to raise awareness on breast cancer, as well as raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation
Breast Cancer is the most prevalent types of cancer in Australia, with 1 in 7 women being diagnosed in their lifetime
We pledged to GO PINK and take a stand against breast cancer by helping @nbcfaus fund more world-class research that will help with early detection, improve outcomes and save lives

You’ll find him instructing in incredible vintage aircraft (like the Tigermoth) one day, and the next, it’ll be a charter in the Caravan, Chieftain or Beaver (Seaplane). Every day is a new flying adventure for Mr Dorn. Welcome to the newest members of the Basair fleet! Meet “VDN” & “VDQ”, our 2 newly purchased Piper Archer III (PA-28-181) aircrafts. Ferried all the way from Florida in the U.S after traveling more than 15,000 km, our newest recruits have been assembled by our engineers at our Brisbane base and have received their certificate of airworthiness - meaning they are ready to take to the skies ✈ These Archer IIIs will primarily be used for RPL, PPL, NVFR & PIFR training, but will also be taken for cruises around Oz during flyaways.
This is just Part 1 of a fleet expansion as we gear up to meet current demand. Stay tuned for more info! Who else is excited to fly these bad boys?! #AimHigh
